At least once a year I go through a “I must change my hair” mood. I’m currently in the middle of this. Unfortunately I probably won’t be able to act on my mood until after school starts.
Until then I’m trying to figure out what I want to do. My hair is a pain in the rear. I hate it about 98.9% of the time. Funny how every hairdresser I’ve ever seen has said “You have such great hair.” Apparently I’m either stupid or blind. My hair is just “hair”, nothing more. When you see some people you are blown away by how great their hair looks. It’s the exact opposite for me. You see me, you see my non-hairstyle.
I have hair that needs a style. It’s boring. Shoulder length, semi-wavy and blah. I wear it up in a clip more often than not. The summer is hell on my hair because of the humidity. It’s frizzy AND flat. How can that be?
So, I’m thinking a short flippy style would be good. Something like Edie Falco…..

I’m not sure about the bangs though. Bangs look good on me, but I hate not being able to pull my hair back if needed. That’s the one thing holding me back from cutting it short. However right now I am disgusted with my hair 6 out of 7 days. Maybe if I had it cut right I’d only be disgusted 5 out of 7 days?
This style of Victoria Beckham is rather cute too. (ETA: If I had boobs like that I wouldn’t need to worry about my hair.) I’ve never had it cut like this before so I’m not sure what to think. Maybe my face is too fat?

Julie Pinson’s short cut is great too. Maybe a little too big headed for me though. I like the cut but I’m not much on the poof.

Frankly, I am confused. Short sounds good most of the time but I’m afraid of missing my long hair. But long hair annoys me so short sounds good. It’s a vicious cycle.

I’m with you on the long vs. short hair thing – I go back and forth with it. I’ve currently been growing mine back out (not my favorite stage) and so far have managed to not get so totally frustrated with it that I just chop it all off again. And now I have 3 additional heads of hair to deal with (now that my youngest is finally getting some!) and help them figure out whether they want long or short… Phew!
Okay, PLEASE not Victoria Beckham’s hairstyle… it looks “good” on her because the style is a bit whorish, and well, quite frankly, it suits her.
I like the 3rd hairstyle. It’s not like you’d HAVE to make it that poofy. I don’t think many people would have hair THAT poofy naturally anyway… there’s some definite hairstylist work going on there.
And if you’re not sure about bangs, I’d say go for it. Itty-bitty clips have become my best friend this summer to get bangs out of my face. They’re quite simply really, and since they’re so tiny and clear, you don’t really notice them too much anyway.
Yay! You didn’t give up : )
If you’re scared of a short cut, the first hairstyle might be the easiest to get used to. I recently went from long hair to an Edie Falco-like cut and I love it. It’s a razor-cut and very low maintenance, which is a real plus!
P.S. You have one of the most clever names for a blog ever!
